Reader,
Working for money is easy.
Did I really write that?
I can see you glaring at the screen, your looks of frustration as you read those words.
You're muttering...
Work is not easy. Work takes up so much time and energy.
Work is a chore, a challenge and an outright pain in my backside!
Have you met my boss?
Ok, I hear you. Those early mornings and dreaded Sunday evenings aren't a favourite way for anyone to spend time.
Working for money is easy.
You show up, give it all you can, and in return, you get a paycheck into your account each pay period. (Freelancers and self-employed rockstars, don't feel left out. You know where I'm coming from.)
Happy days.
Rinse and repeat. The system works, and money appears.
Over and over until you retire.
Fun, isn't it?
That's what most people do. They do it their entire lives, most of us are quite good at earning money.
It's an underappreciated skill.
Even on a modest income of, let's say €50K per year coming into a household. Over 40 years of a normal working life, this adds up to a substantial €2 million. Not too shabby by anyone's standards.
Let's assume we've established that making money is the easy part.
But that is not the whole picture. If it was only about income, why aren't we all rich beyond our wildest dreams and rolling around in wads of cash?
A few years back, I made a massive shift in my habits. I swung the needle from simply earning money and hoping everything else would work out, to focusing on something that mattered more.
When I realised this, I swung the needle with all my might to optimise for freedom and value.
I switched up my mantra to this little number:
I know what I want from life, and it's NOT to be ultra-wealthy and be smothered by a mountain of things.
It is to be free to choose what I want to do with my time and to make choices because I want to and not because my hand is forced.
I want to never worry about money again because I know my money is waiting in the wings to jump in like a bodyguard when things get tough.
It becomes clear that consumerism takes you further away. Further away from certainty and a stress-free life.
Money is a relationship to master. A healthy relationship with money gives you more time to do what you want.
Freedom is a healthy relationship.
I want that for you.
I want you to thrive.
You deserve to thrive.

Reader, Christmas is just around the corner, and it's hard not to spend money like it's going out of fashion. It's even harder to find the time to catch the little leaks that drain us over time. In our era of instant gratification, the world is at our fingertips. Subscriptions have thrived, sorting out all the problems we never knew we had with the click of a button. At best, they are cost-effective saving graces. At worst, a forgotten impulse buy, draining our hard-earned money. Before we go...
Reader, Last week on Instagram, I revealed a huge secret. It is one of the biggest secrets to my success to date. It's one I lean into most when it comes to money. It kept me motivated and on track even when I was in 6 figures of debt (thank you, last Recession!) and working my way back to zero. This same secret got me to where I am today: financial security. I will be my own wingperson as I reach for financial freedom. That secret is the differentiation between goals and systems. Harnessing...
