It's all about the Reframe

Reader,

Budgeting is mundane, time-consuming and sucks a little of our soul each time we think about it. We all have way more fun things to do with our lives. Hasn’t a new show just dropped on Netflix? Surely, there is a freshly painted wall that needs watching or random defacing of kitchen ingredients?

Even the word budgeting sounds like it begins with a But - that’s never a good starting point for anything! It’s a shame that such a critical piece of our money infrastructure was bestowed with a name that scares most of us away from taking it as seriously as it needs to be.

Bright idea! I am putting forward a reframe for you today. That reframe is… Cashflow. Instead of handing over chunks of our withered souls to budgeting, I will ask you to press the reset button and try on the word cashflow for size.

This new, fresh, shiny label of Cashflow triggers the occipital lobe into visualising your money flowing in the right direction; plugging the leaks and channelling it into a world of possibilities, and dare I say, freedom.

The occipital lobe occupies about 20% of your mind’s overall capacity and is responsible for vision and the ability to visualise scenes never actually witnessed before. Pretty cool, huh?

Feeding your mind with the right information is game-changing. So, with this reframe in mind, let’s get knocking your money out of the park.

The Truth about Cashflows

  1. Control Over Constraints: Cashflows offer clarity around your money, freeing up your bandwidth to get on doing the fun things in life.
  2. Set & Forget: Setting up a simple cashflow can take a little work initially. After that, it’s just about checking and tracking progress.
  3. Mindset Shift: Approaching your cashflow positively turns it into a loyal wingman, not a time-draining adversary.

Wrap up

  1. Cashflows empower, not restrict. They put you in the driver’s seat of your money.
  2. Words are powerful fuel for your mind when it comes to money. Nourish it and let your mind run free with possibilities. You already have the hardware inside your skull; harness it.
  3. A positive mindset reframe switches draining budgets to forward-thinking cashflows that convert your hard-earned income into a rocking future.
